I think of moving days as wedding days. No matter how prepared you are, something always goes wrong. We decided to take a few days to move making it a less stressful situation. Our apartment agent called and said that there was no way for us to move on the day we had told them we were moving because the people moving out of the apartment wouldn't be out until 4 days later. We had already signed our contract so I thought this was odd they waited to break the news. They said we could move to another unit but it would cost us $20 extra a month. We opted to wait because we are living in poverty. The day we showed up to get our keys no none in the office knew who we were and that we were moving in. After they had found our information it took them another half an hour to get a hold of the maintenance guy who had our keys. We finally get set only to find that they are paving our parking lot and will have to park across the street. That really sucks because we have an entire car to unload. We look across the street and because they have blocked off our parking lot everyone else has moved their car and there are no parking spots left. We ended up just making it illegal and dumping everything on the side of the road and then making trips. On our big moving day was not nearly as bad. The only problem was that our amazing friend Ian and Adam's brother Scott were the only people who showed up to help. Limited man power made for multiple delirious 1 a.m. trips hauling furniture over a balcony. Then Scott's truck blew out a tire and we got a dresser stuck in another truck. The good news is there is no carpet in the kitchen.
