Working in an acute setting was never what I planned on doing. I always thought I would be in outpatient teaching people how to exercise like I always did in the past. When I started at Ogden Regional it instantly felt like home. The PT staff was like family to me. They always let me know that they truly cared. They were there when I took the scary PTA exam, when my father died, and during a failed adoption. I really never thought I would leave. Unfortunately, unfair politics changed my mind. I was hired on with a PRN (on call status). After working 18 months being scheduled for no less than 24 hours a week I realized that I needed to go somewhere with benefits and fair pay. My boss had promised to change my status to part time on several occasions but every time I brought it up he told me yet another reason as to why they could require me to work part time without the benefits or security of being a part time employee.
So I went elsewhere. A place with better pay, insurance, a 401K which they match, and a pension. I guess I will have to survive working in an outpatient setting for a while.
